Tis true. I'm back at Western, and I'm back on this blog!
I apologize for all the neglegence. *sniff*... I know you guys' lives depend on updates and insights into my life, and... *sniff sniff* I'm just... so... touched! *sobs*
...
Melodrama ends now.
So... last time I updated this, it was a couple days before Christmas. Many things have happened since then. First let me fill some of you in one something that happened before then.
December 18th, a week before Christmas, my status changed from "single" to "girlfriend." Yes, I am a girlfriend now. And as many of you guessed, it is Alan who is my boyfriend. There, I have now announced it cyberly publicly. MY BOYFRIEND IS ALAN!!!
Hee hee, moving on... Christmas came, and it was good. I got some nice presents, and my brother Graham and I prepared Christmas dinner. Mom had to work that day, dinner is usually her job, but Graham and I didn't have a problem taking over that field. And it wasn't as hard or as complicated as I thought, and most everything turned out delicious! Yay! A slight bit of familiy tension happened, but overall it was a good Christmas, I think.
Hmmm... *recollectin'*... Tyler came to visit a bit on the 27th. I didn't have a present for him, and I felt kinda bad... especially since he gave me a freakin' awesome present--A Beatles poster!! There is no wrong way to go with that! One: Beatles!!! Two: Dorm Decor! Definitely a good thing... he didn't stay long, but long enough to show off his Coldplay piano skills... very good.
Most of the later days of my break was spent mostly around the house... got rather restless after a while. I was looking forward to getting of the house, cause honestly, there is a point where it's time to get away from my family again. I had friends and a college environment to look forward to, not to mention a boyfriend to see again.
December 31st came, my sisters turned 13! So now the house is officially full of teenagers! Hooray for my parents... Deanna hosted a New Years Party, which I went to--my first New Years Party! I was surprised my parents let me go, being that it was my sisters' birthday and all... my sisters were the ones who were a bit upset, though I assured them I would spend some time with them... I was a bit sad that I didn't spend as much time with them as I thought I would. Although the party was pretty fun! I must say that I was rather disappointed in the males there... I have to give some props to Luan and Co, for actually dancing with us girls! And Bob tried... I'll give him some credit too. A couple of boys sort of joined the circle... but I have to say it was us girls doing most of the dancing! A bit lesbianistic, yes, but when there are hardly any guys to dance with, what else do you expect us to do?! We counted down to midnight, toasted with our drinks, and danced ourselves tired.... VERY tired.
January first I was so dead... I missed the Tournament of Roses parade... =( I like to see that thing, it's my only real glance into my old hometown these days. I did my last bit of packing... alot of stuff, as people repeatedly pointed out to me later. Spent the last night with my family watching some movies, and come the next day...
January second, it was time to leave. That day not only was I given a ride to Western... but also gave a ride to Alan and his older brother, Eric. We managed to survive the whole trip with both my parents... and it didn't go bad at all! No embaressing stories (a few from my past though), no humiliation... and those two are really entertaining to watch and listen to!
I came back to my dorm, met Allie and Kelly (another girl from my floor) there, made my bed, said goodbye to my parents... then headed to Alan's dorm for some quality time for the first time in three weeks. It turned out to be ALOT of quality time... I ended up spending the night there. Now don't y'all go jumping conclusions--nothing scandelous happened. I will say we didn't much sleep... maybe an hour's worth of scattered sleep in the wee hours of the night... consecutive sleep went from about 6 to about 9. And... we ended up spending the rest of the day together. That's right, over 24 hours nonstop with him. We made several trips back and forth between our dorms, stopping at the bookstore and the VU in between. The weather is not my favorite... sunny, but FREEZING!!! I was just about going numb out there... I've recently rediscovered the miracle that is layers. So those two days were nice, seeing some faces I hadn't seen in a long time, even if one of them never left my side for two days!
Tuesday was my first day of classes. I started it off at 10 with Environmental Studies. The benefit of this class is that i know at least 6 other girls taking this class on my floor, which should make studying much easier, I think! The teacher also loves his subject, which is always a plus for any class. And I do have a bit of an interest in this subject... so we'll see how it goes! So my next class was at 6... yes, 6. The only English 101 class time left. So I had a huge gap in the day... what to do, what to do...
Ha ha, so Alan came over and we watched some movies together--one of his presents to me was Love Actually. And he predicted right--I really liked that movie! In fact, he overshot--I LOVED that movie!! It's on my top 10 list for sure, one of my favorite love stories of all time. I can't say enough... such a GOOD MOVIE!!!
Hee hee, okay, next... we watched some Monty Python episodes. I dragged my entire collection up here for that purpose! Good stuff... unfortunately, I lost track of time, and I ended up having to skip dinner before I went to my English class... oh well. It was interesting; I wasn't looking forward to it all that much, since it was just a GUR, and frankly, I'm not too fond of writing and apparently we will be doing quite of bit of that. But the class was small, which I found nice, and the teacher seemed sympathetic to us on that note. I hope the class turns out to be a good one!
So then an hour later I went to late night to make up for my lost meal, and I was going to drag my friend Adria with me, but I ended up having to go with Alan alone. Oh darn. We had some food, then headed back to my dorm again. This time I had an assignment for him--find out the flippin' deal with some of my computer features. And he cured them all! YAY! As he said, computer geeks are just about the most useful geeks around. More quality time spent together, and some time spent with Allie and her friend Ben... then it hit midnight, and our bedtimes called us...
So today. I have now gone to all of my classes once. 10 AM greeted me with Psychology 101. I found some girls I knew in there, though I must say it was busting at the seams... it seemed like an interesting class, and my RA says the teacher is a good one.
I wasn't originaly going to see Alan today, since wednesdays are his busy days, but lucky me I ran into him right in time for us to have lunch! My RA, Liz, joined us, and we all had a nice lunch and conversation, complete with threats from Liz to spy on Alan through his RA! Alan came back to my dorm a bit to check something from my computer, and then we parted ways again.
After a bit, it was off to my sociolinguistics class. I look forward to that one! One, linguistics fascinate me, two, the teacher seems nice enough, and three, there are so many varieties of people already! We took a survey today to see our linguistic backgrounds: what languages we had learned before 6, languages we learned since 6, and and different countries we had spent a considerable amount of time in. So much variety! As for languages learned before 6... Spanish, German, Polish, Ukranian, Lebenese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic... just to name a few! I hope this class really turns out to be as fascinating as I expected...
So I just got back from a little trip with Adria to pay her bills and to get me my first Italian soda in a month! Mmmm... and now I think it's time to shower. This summary of the lost days of my life will suffice for now. I now have to do a ritual cleansing... in the communal shower area.
